Mod Ash is a Jagex Moderator and principal content developer for Old School RuneScape. He has worked for more than 18 years, and was a forum moderator and a tester before being a developer. He is also a founding moderator of Old School RuneScape.

Mod Ash's in-game avatar resembles the Wise Old Man, who is heavily involved in Swan Song and Love Story. The Draynor bank robbery was collectively inspired by Mod Ash and Andrew Gower when Andrew realised that the telescope in the Wise Old Man's home was facing the bank.

Background[]

In late 2001 or early 2002, Mod Ash met Andrew Gower in a bar and learned about RuneScape. He started playing and became an addicted player. During this time, Mod Ash was a member of the church choir and and a student at the University of Cambridge, studying Material Sciences. After graduation, he started working at Jagex, as a member of the customer support team. Before his employment, he used to be a forum moderator, and met his eventual wife through the forums. He also became a forum moderator curator for three months during his work in the team.

Mod Ash became an upload manager in 2005, where he was taught RuneScript.

In, Mod Ash was promoted to a content developer. He helped develop several RuneScape quests, such as My Arm's Big Adventure, Swan Song and Love Story.[2]

He also developed Larriar, a non-player character named after Larryr, the second player to get 99 Runecrafting.

In late 2019, a Christmas party was held at Jagex where him and Mod Noldor received glass trophies for serving 15 years.
