I've been watching the recent changes and have noticed that most users that edit are without an account, this causes less forms of communication if they don't want to create an account. I was thinking that we should create an irc channel "#rsplayers". This channel will be able to allow anons to easily join, ask questions and be able to communicate. So this channel can be known, a link to the irc channel would be located in the chat module in the rail so it can be easily seen (I can make the code later). I'd also like to have a page: "RuneScape Players Wiki:IRC" with rules and guidelines. Here is a quick sketch up of guidelines and rules (which can be changed at any time):

  • Any current administrators+ will be flagged as op (+o)
  • Any current chat moderators or other users who often help out will be voiced (+v)
  • Bans will be recorded on "RuneScape Players Wiki:IRC/Bans" so they can be kept up with. (Current bans could be accessed with /mode #rsplayers +b)
  • Kicks will only be given out if they are necessary, not for pleasure.
  • IRC Bots are allowed in the channel, as long as they are productive and not obnoxious.

These are the only rules I could think of right now, but can be added on for sure. Also, I'm not sure if it'll be possible, but I'll ask Sactage if he can make a #cvn-wikia-rsplayers (if this does pass). I don't see much harm done with this so I hope it can be helpful to us!

Discussion

Support - Also, I think Smithing should have the +F. If he doesn't want it, I'll establish the irc channel.

Weak support - But how do you propose on cloaking the anons (if you can)? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Neitiznot (talk contribs)

You can't automatically cloak anons since the nick may or may not be registered. They'd have to do what any other person on a freenode irc would do, register the nick and request a cloak in the #freenode channel.

Fair enough. (Changing stance to Support. Reason:A bit like the helpline idea on YG)

Comment - I created this little function that needs to be added so the channel can be easily advertised $(function(){ $('.chat-name').append('
