This page in a nutshell: Bots must be harmless, useful, have approval, and be operated responsibly. |
A bot is an automated or semi-automated tool that carries out repetitive and mundane tasks. Bots on the RuneScape Players Wiki should be harmless, useful and be used responsibly.
Process
Any fully-automated tasks a bot performs should get approval at the Watercooler. To obtain the bot flag for your account to do a semi-automated task, contact an active bureaucrat, or if you plan on using AutoWikiBrowser (AWB) to do these tasks, leave a request at the AWB request page.
Bot requirements
Before a bot is approved, the owner should demonstrate that it:
- is harmless
- is useful
- does not consume resources unnecessarily
- adheres to relevant policies and guidelines
- uses informative messages in any edit summaries or messages left for users
