Mobbit100's request for adminship: Mobbit100 TalkContribs • Last 20 Forum - Main - User talk editsEdit count

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
I want to help in the editing of pages of players and verify its contents, one thing I've done lately.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Players Wiki, and why?
I think that helping with the images and remove unneeded editions and suspected, the "vandalism".

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes, we have the example of "Vilius," making it unnecessary edits and I removed, calsa some stress because he insults most of the time, I think a first warning, and if he continues with the attitudes undue, ban the person. More others that I simply removed it, or talked to Smithing handle the case. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mobbit100 (talk contribs)

Discussion

Oppose Support - My concern is how he would deal with people in certain situations. A couple days ago, when I was in chat with Mobbit and Vilius was making a slew of attacks against him, Vilius started making some attacks back. This really is not how I expect admins to react when they get into a heated situation; rather, I would expect them to act in a more controlled manner. Smithing (talk | contribs) 04:03, October 28, 2012 (UTC)

As I am not an administrator and you were chatting I kept answering without using insults, and every time he insulted me more. I was just waiting to see what you do to deal with it, and you did the same I would like to say a warning first, and if the person continues to do the same thing later banning it is inevitable. Mobbit100 (talk)

On second thought, we could use an additional sysop, especially in the case of vandal sprees, which are not too uncommon on this wiki. Smithing (talk | contribs) 00:45, November 20, 2012 (UTC)

Support - You seemed nice when I met you yesterday :). Haidro Talk 07:55, December 26, 2012 (UTC)

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
I intend to be very active with edits and maintaining to integrity of all the pages, and making sure they are free from vandalism plus adding what knowledge I have to the pages.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Players Wiki, and why?
I have played runescape for 7 years in that time I have spent 3 years merchanting, I have extensive knowledge in particular of people involved with Merchanting and can generally help in many runescape areas.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I did have some problems with Vandals in the past, ultimately knowing I had no administrative power was important, instead of getting into an unimportant argument which would of got no where I reported it to Smithing who took appropriate action.

Oppose - You haven't been active enough on the wiki. Before four days ago, you didn't edit at all for several months. Smithing (talk | contribs) 13:06, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

I 'accept' this nomination.

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
Making the Wki the best it possibly can be, helping out people in need and keeping the information up to date so people don't get wrong information when searching for it.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Players Wiki, and why? Probably when I got information from Drumgun himself and edited his page, as he is one of Runescape's most notorious and famous players, which made me happy to have been able to do that. It also included me being able to put that he achieved 200 Million experience in the Divination skill.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have never had any conflicts with users on the Wiki, but if it were to happen, I would deal with it outside of the Wiki and not edit their pages as revenge.

Nominated by 86.130.36.171.

Comment - We need DrSheldonC00per21 to confirm that he accepts this nomination. Smithing (talk | contribs) 19:34, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

Comment - Sorry for the short response in advance, I'm a bit busy. I think you need to become a bit more active on the wiki before getting admin tools. Right now, I can't really tell if you're going to use the tools if you are given them. Smithing (talk | contribs) 23:03, March 7, 2014 (UTC)

Closed - There is no consensus to give DrSheldonC00per21 admin rights at this time. Smithing (talk | contribs) 15:59, April 10, 2014 (UTC)

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
Reverting vandalism via the rollback tool, blocking persistent vandals, deleting pages that fit the criteria for speedy deletion/have an expired and valid proposal for deletion.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Players Wiki, and why?
I've been regularly reverting vandalism, marking pages for deletion, warning users etc. for the past few days. Ordinarily, I'd think about waiting at least a week to two weeks before requesting admin permissions, but this wiki seems to suffer from a disproportionate amount of vandalism and seems to be in need of another active admin or two. I'm familiar with the wiki-specific policies, and would very much like to see the notability proposition passed (if this were to happen then I'd be available to help with identifying and deleting or moving eligible pages, which will undoubtedly number in the hundreds or even thousands).

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Although this is admittedly a fresh account, I have several years of experience with Wikia, Wikipedia and MediaWiki sites in general, on many of which I have taken on an administrative role. I therefore have a sound understanding of administrative tools and Wiki markup in general. I maintain professionalism at all times and do not allow other users to upset me or cause me stress - unless a matter calls for personal opinion, I follow procedures and policies rather than letting personal judgement cloud my view. I have not been in any editing conflicts on or off the RuneScape Players Wiki.

If you believe my request to be premature, then that's perfectly understandable - I'll just carry on as normal and consider reapplying in the future if this is the case. - John Pot (talk) 23:32, July 19, 2014 (UTC)

Support - You definitely do have a good understanding of our policies and guidelines, despite being here for only a couple of weeks. Based on your anti-vandalism work, I think adminship will only benefit you. Smithing (talk | contribs) 07:32, August 2, 2014 (UTC)

Questions for the nominee

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
Removing vandalism and updating existing threads.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Players Wiki, and why?
Removing long-standing vandalism from pages, creating the "2000+ total level" category, and adding highscores-related information to pages. I've also created a few pages about people that are very well known in the Runescape community.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

A few months ago, I was in an "editing war" with a vandal, who was replacing the contents of a specific page with profanity. I resolved this situation by notifying the VSTF moderators, who protected the page so only registered accounts could edit it. In the future, assuming I am granted admin status, I will give them one or two warnings to stop, then block them for a minimum of two weeks. If they continue to vandalize pages after they're unblocked, they'll receive a permanent block.

Discussion

I support kent 100%, seen him undoing vandalism and reporting to vstf. I know i'm not around much but did help with reverting. he seems interested in helping so yeah, admin would be best outcome if local staff are retiring. Nerfmaster8 (talk) 19:31, August 13, 2015 (UTC)

John Pot is a great user who has made lots of helped revert plenty of vandalism. He has also contributed to several discussions in the Yew Grove, requests for deletion, and other community discussions. He also has experience closing discussions, e.g., Forum:"Read more...", Tyuijvhvh5 RfD, and Jellefish RfD. He is well equipped to close any adminship requests should the need arise. Questions for the nominee

1. What bureaucrat work do you intend to take part in?

I'd be available to promote users as necessary once they've undergone a successful request for permissions wherein consensus has been achieved. Although a great deal of power and responsibility comes with the bureaucrat right, I believe that I am trustworthy and would only use my tools as permissible by the policies and rules of the wiki.

2. What are your best contributions to the RuneScape Players Wiki, and why?

I tend to steer away from significant mainspace editing outside of somewhat menial changes such as correcting spelling or grammar, adding links/references and creating pages using a basic structural template. Instead, my contributions largely consist of stereotypical administrative tasks - vandalism reversion, warning and blocking users, deleting pages. I believe that the scale and scope of my administrative presence has been of benefit to the wiki, and this trend would hopefully continue should I be given bureaucratic rights.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

I've never been involved in an genuine edit conflict during my time on the RuneScape Players Wiki. Isolated cases of persistent vandalism have inevitably led to me reverting the same edit multiple times, but these have been dealt with in accordance with the policies of the wiki by warning or blocking offenders as required. Other users do not cause me stress in any capacity, regardless of their actions. I am not affected by disagreements or personal attacks, and will always consult with relevant policies to reach a compromise or resolution. - John Pot (talk) 21:08, February 28, 2015 (UTC)
