Suomi was the highest ranked player on the RuneScape Hiscores. He began playing the game in 2001; his first three years were as a non-member. After observing Zezima obtain 200 million experience in multiple skills, Suomi decided to make 200 million experience in all skills his goal. He obtained 200 million experience in his first skill on 21 December 2008, his 10th skill on 1 October 2011, and his 20th skill on 9 July 2012. On 18 March 2013, he became the first RuneScape player to reach 5 billion experience, and the maximum experience in every skill prior to the release of Divination. As of November 2017, he has a total level of 2,618 and 5.2 billion experience.

Suomi also has an Old School RuneScape account, named "Suomi OSRS".

Early RuneScape career

Suomi created his first account around 2001, but he stopped playing with it because he disliked its name.[3] He decided to try playing RuneScape since his school friends used to play it, and he noticed a lot of children in his school library playing the game.[4] He later created another account called "S U  O  M I"; he says one reason he chose the name was because he admired the nature in Finland (Suomi is a Finnish word which means "Finland").[2]

Due to commitments with school, Suomi did not initially have considerable time to play RuneScape. For the first three years of game play, he played as a non-member. He quit the game several times as a result of scams committed against him, but he stated "I always came back to [RuneScape] eventually."[2] Suomi's first 99 was in Firemaking, which he achieved in RuneScape Classic.[5]

Five billion experience goal

As Suomi was finishing his school studies, he started to consider setting 200 million experience in all skills as a goal.[2] After seeing Zezima obtain the milestone in multiple skills, he thought it would be cool if someone had 200 million experience in all skills, and he decided to pursue that goal.[4] He listed several players who he says inspired him to achieve his goal: Allar, Elias, Fire Dancer0, Jebrim, Mi Thrill, Paperbag, Zarfot, and Zezima.[1][2] On 21 December 2008, he attained 200 million experience in his first skill, Fletching,[6] by making magic and yew long bows. The second skill he attained this milestone in was Fishing, followed by Agility, Cooking, Mining, Smithing, and Magic. After getting 200 million experience in his first skill, he started to be more open about his goal, and he observed that people wanted to help him achieve it; thus, he decided to visit Clan Chats to ask for donations.[2] Suomi stated in 2013 that he no longer accepts donations since he does not need them anymore.[7]

On 21 February 2011, Suomi attained the maximum total level of 2496 at the time. He had around 2.025 billion total experience when he maxed, and he became rank 5 overall. Suomi states that he tried to avoid getting the maximum total level as long as possible, since once players reach the top page of the hiscores, they also "get lots of negative attention."[4]

He gained 200 million experience in his 10th skill, Construction, on 1 October 2011. On 20 January 2012, he was the first player to obtain 200 million experience in 15 skills after he achieved the milestone in Defence.[6] He also became the first player to obtain 4 billion overall experience on 7 March 2012.[8] A few months later, on 9 July 2012, he attained 200 million experience in his 20th skill, Runecrafting.

Accomplishing his goal and later career

On 24 September 2012, Suomi stated that he would stop playing "hardcore" because he did not enjoy playing anymore.[9] On 20 October 2012, with around 4.75 billion overall experience, Suomi temporarily quit gaining experience in RuneScape since he lost trust in Jagex.[10] He returned 39 days later, on 28 November 2012, to gain 185,467 experience in Farming and 1741 experience in Hunter.

On 9 February 2013, Suomi reached 199,999,998 experience in Thieving and became 2 experience away from 5 billion overall experience, the maximum possible at the time.[11] He gained 1 more experience point on 11 February, for a total of 4,999,999,999 experience. Jagex had planned a trip for Suomi to Jagex headquarters so he could get his final experience point there on 21 February. However, they rescinded their offer after watching one of his videos in which he made disrespectful comments about Jagex.[12] Suomi had since decided not to get 5 billion experience for an indeterminate time.

Suomi accidentally gained his final Thieving experience point on 18 March 2013 by catching a Guthixian butterfly, which was part of the Tribute to Guthix special event and gave experience to a player's lowest skill. This made him the first player to gain the maximum total experience possible at the time.[13] Shortly after achieving this milestone, he received a mute for two days, preventing him from throwing a party.[14] The Floating Pen, writing in the Tip.It Times, stated that the effort devoted by Suomi to achieve his goal was "astonishing". The writer also commented that society would be enriched by Suomi's demonstration of dedication.[15]

On 1 April 2013, Suomi posted a video on YouTube claiming that he was banned from RuneScape.[16] It was confirmed by Mod Rocket that this was an April Fool's Joke.[17]

After the release of Divination, he indicated he would not attempt to achieve 200 million Divination experience.[18] He obtained 99 Divination on 2 November 2013, after remaining 1 experience point away from level 99 for almost 2 months. In December 2013, Suomi stopped training Divination after obtaining exactly 20 million experience in the skill. As of 23 June 2014, he is ranked third overall with precisely 5.02 billion experience and the maximum total level of 2595.[19] Since he began playing RuneScape, Suomi played an average of 7 hours and 27 minutes a day as of 5 April 2014.[20] On 16 April 2014, he stated that he quit RuneScape.[21]

Suomi did not make a return for the release of Invention, as of 19 September 2016, he only has 1,168 xp in the skill.

YouTube and Old School RuneScape career

In 2011, Suomi uploaded his first video on his YouTube account "RsSuomi" after people kept requesting he make videos. He got a positive response after uploading some screenshots, so he decided to continue creating more videos.[22] Suomi used to communicate to his viewers by typing in the RuneScape chatbox, although after receiving messages from people asking him to say "hi", he decided to make commentary videos starting on 17 May 2012. He says that YouTube is his best memory about RuneScape, stating "RuneScape wouldn't be the same without it." Suomi had about 46 thousand subscribers as of 25 December 2013.[23] He said he quit YouTube on 16 April 2014 because he "didn't really have anything to offer to the RuneScape community anymore except my nostalgia but that wasn't really going anywhere".[21] In late May 2016, he closed his YouTube account.

Suomi started playing Old School RuneScape on 22 February 2013, the day of its release, with the first account he created on RuneScape. He renamed the account "Suomi RS07" (later "Suomi OSRS"), and he was planning on getting the maximum total level in the game. He subsequently abandoned his goal, explaining: "I decided it's better to stop the endless grinding and concentrate on other parts of life too".[4]
