Falador Massacre: 10 Years On (Interview)
Hey Cursed You,
With the 10 year anniversary of the Falador Massacre only two weeks away, I was wondering if you would be interested in holding an interview to answer general questions and common misconceptions about your point of view during that timeframe. With any luck, I'm hoping the itnerview can be shared with the Runescape community via Reddit, as well as on Twitter, the RS forums, and possibly Youtube. All questions for this interview are 100% voluntary, so you can choose to skip certain questions if you like. If you have any questions about the interview such as time for it (Preferably I'd like to get it done within a week or so), please contact me on my talk page. I am contacting you in regards to your recent edits on the page Cursed You. From what I'm seeing, you're attempting to impersonate this banned player? Quite honestly, I highly doubt this is true because you tried to change information that is known to be correct, such as the username of the person on the page. While you are allowed to create an article about your own character, you're not allowed to attempt to hijack an existing page, and you must provide factual information in your page.
If you really are the player Cursed You, then I'd like you to provide some sort of indisputable fact that you are. In the mean time, please do not edit the page. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Kent Knifen admin (talk) 13:28, February 18, 2016 (UTC)
That's the thing - messaging me on a different account/directing me to a twitch channel isn't a form of indisputable fact, since it has the potential to be faked very easily. Also, as an admin of this Wiki, I do not have access to your email address, that would be in the domain of the employees of Wikia.com. Kent Knifen admin (talk) 13:04, February 19, 2016 (UTC)
None of the information you provided me on my Talk Page clearly and indisputably shows you're Cursed You. Your Gmail account was created recently and the address makes it obvious that it's not the original email for the account. The sendvid link only shows the username and password being entered, but the account not being logged into, meaning it could easily be a fake attempt. The oddshot link only shows an account named "Curssed You." Finally, the imgur links were only uploaded 18 days ago, leading me to believe they were either faked or re-uploaded copies of an original image. I would like to ask that you refrain from making changes to the Cursed You page. You are, however, welcome to create a page about yourself as "Curssed You." Kent Knifen admin (talk) 23:20, February 19, 2016 (UTC)
I'll say this one last time to be clear: I acknowledge that you're a player named Curssed You on Runescape, but you haven't been able to show you're Cursed You. Kent Knifen (talk) 23:27, February 19, 2016 (UTC)
Update on the Cursed You page
I heard back from Smithing and got his opinion on you and the page itself. In short, he said it's highly unlikely that you aren't Cursed You, so go ahead and make changes to the page and such. One of the reasons why I have been so hesitant during this process is that we do have issues of player impersonation from time to time, especially when it's about famous players who quit long ago. In addition, I felt the chances of actually meeting you were so slim, that that in itself made it unlikely to be Cursed You.
Again though, Smithing said to go ahead with the changes you wanted to make. One thing I would like to ask, however, is that instead of removing information about the past, you fix anything that's inaccurate and create a new section in the page that's about your return, current goals, progress, basically anything you want to add. The reason why I ask this is so the Wiki can continue to be a source of history about the Falador Massacre, which was obviously a major point of your time playing Runescape in the past.
Lastly, there is something else I would like to ask. Since this year will be marking the 10th anniversary of the Falador Massacre, could we have an interview sometime closer to June to "clear the air" about some common misconceptions about you and the massacre, as well as get the full story from your perspective? Kent Knifen admin (talk) 12:59, February 21, 2016 (UTC)
Here's the questions for the interview. I already know the answers for most of these, but thought it'd be a good idea to include them anyway since most people don't know them. If you feel uncomfortable answering any particular questions, you can skip them. You can leave your responses to them on here if you like, or just edit this message. Q: Did you know about the Combat Room glitch, or at least hear rumors about it? The glitch was alledgedly known about by some people before the massacre.
A: I had no idea about the combat room glitch at the time of me getting 99 construction, nobody told me anything about it. I only ejected everyone from my house because my computer was lagging too much from having 100s of people in my house.
Q: Did you know Durial321 before the massacre, or communicate some way after the incident?
A: I didn't know durial before or after the massacre, I have never spoken to the guy. He was just a random who turned up as I advertised on main runescape forums and DI forums when I was getting 99
Q: Why were you specifically banned? Many players still believe you were banned for your involvement in the Falador Massacre
A: I was temporarily banned for the massacre while Jagex fixed the bug, I was disconnected for about 2-3 hours while rumoured Jagex employees were called up out of bed to get to office to fix the bug. I was however banned permanently around 2-3 months later for Real World Trading, when I let my best friend at the time "Josh (Cursed Y0u) use my account while I was at 6th form formal to use to stake on with around 500m I lent him, he proceeded to walk around runescape asking people if they would "Like to buy mils of gold" leading to an investigation into my account which ultimately led to the ban sticking as I did RWT but never from Cursed You itself. Josh knew what I was doing and I am still unsure to this day why he did this but it happened.
Q: Many people also know you for being a very talented staker back in the day. Approximately how much had you made from staking by the time of your ban?
A: At the time of my ban I had around 40-50B of networth in rares on Cursed You, I have a picture on my twitch channel from around 2 weeks before my ban with around 10 party hat sets, 200 santas and a range of other rares. My big break in staking was when I was mage staking H a 12 d I was around 95 hp 90 defence and 99 magic, as he was 99 in all, I made him 1.5X him for the stat differential which led to me cleaning him for around 20B in rares and other things. With the bank I had I staked smart and grinded my way for the rest, having the bank behind me helped to make more.
Q: Do you remember what your method was for getting 99 Construction? How long did it take? Are you using this same method now on OSRS?
A: I used mahogany tables for 99 construction the first time around which was around 250k/hr without AHK as it didn't exist back in 2006. Josh came around to my house for the weekend and we took shifts in doing construction to gain the edge on others, it helped having the money to fund it as most of the other contenders felt the pinch as it cost me 250 million in 2006. It took me around 5 days if I remember correctly, I took a couple of days off school to complete the 99 skill. I am currently using the exact same method now to level construction in OSRS.
Q: Moving on to more recent times, what is your opinion on the direction of the RS3 game as a whole
(EoC, 6th Age, etc)?
A: I cannot really comment on RS3 as I have never played it, I havn't played runescape since 2006 so my opinion isn't really valid here. I do feel that Jagex as a whole took the right dirrection by releasing OSRS again. Statistics unforutnately don't lie in regards to player base nowdays and how OSRS is stronger in that aspect, but I feel they have pleased both sides with an ever evolving game (RS3) and a game for us old farts who can still live in the golden old days. It was a smart move to reclaim their player base as from what I have gathered from being back they took a huge hit in population from 2006-2013.
Q: What about your opinions on Microtransactions on Runescape 3 (Solomon’s General Store, Treasure Hunter) and Bonds? Do you think these have any positive effects on the game?
A: I feel microtransactions are just a part of every game now. Its a smart move by Jagex, I do feel however that it does take away a lot of the fun in the game where you have to grind to get that first rune armor etc. Like I said though, you have to adapt to the rest of the gaming world and change your ways to suite. Microtransactions are just the norm now in every big game. Win, win situation for both parties, gamer and gaming company.
Q: Do you plan to continue to try to recover your main account, or is your current account your main now?
A: I doubt my account will ever be released, it would be cool if it did, but I have accepted what has happened and have moved on. I doubt I would play RS 3 if I got the account back, but who knows I have never played the game so I may enjoy it. For now Curssed You is my main on OSRS
Q: Based off memory, how much wealth did you have before your ban? Do you have any idea what this would equate to in RS3 currency and if so, how much would it be?
A: I had around 40-50B at the time of the ban, someone on reddit calculated based of the picture from my twitch and apparently calculated to be worth 490B RS 3 GP. Rare prices have changed so much, but the account is worth a lot, whether those items are even still on there, unfortuantely I don't know what Josh did on my account. He didn't know my bank pin but I guess he could have guessed it.
Q: Would you ever consider doing an RS3 livestream or gameplay video?
A: I would consider it, I would be such a noob though. I am open to suggestions and ideas for sure.
Q: What are some of the major issues you're having in adjusting to "then vs now" in regards to RS gameplay?
A: I started playing OSRS the old way, grinding the hard way. I never understood the concept of "Effecientscape" I adjusted my ways by maxing at nightmare zone as back in the day I would afk at ice warriors for 50k/hr. It was a bit of a shock learning at about godswords, bandos gears and the new bosses. When I was banned Kalphite queen was the main boss to kill and dagganoth kings. I havn't had a chance to try the new bosses out yet, but am looking forward to a challenge.
