Zantareous was an F2P skiller (level 3 combat, non-member) from 2005 to 2010, and today is a member account that trains all skills.  He is notable for being the 5^th F2P skiller to achieve 99 Crafting (after Miner I, Leet Skillzz, Lvl3 Skater, and Fury Angel6 respectively) and holding rank 3 overall F2P skiller before his retirement from the F2P skilling scene.

History

The Beginning (2004-2010)

The player began RuneScape Classic on Thursday, July 15, 2004 under the account Wreckerxxx, when introduced to the game by a neighbor.  Later in 2004—with the looming shutdown of RuneScape Classic to free players and many of the players having already moved over—he created a new account on RuneScape 2 named Soccaplaya47, which he played on until 2006.  From 2006 onward, he considered Zantareous his main account (a skiller he had created the previous year) while he divided his focus amongst several accounts (rarely focusing on just one).  On his website, he had this to say about Zantareous' history:

Zantareous was created in the summer of 2005 with the original intent of being a Magic pure.  I liked to make new accounts and try out different play styles whenever I got bored of playing on my main (Soccaplaya47).  I began woodcutting because I needed money to buy runes, and Yews seemed like the best way to make money at the time.  While still woodcutting to save up money, I decided to drop my goal of being a Magic pure - the cost of runes needed to PK seemed unmanageable from woodcutting alone, and I didn't have much experience PKing despite making several combat pures, overall the pursuit didn't seem worth it.  However, I decided to continue woodcutting with a new goal of being a pure Woodcutter/Firemaker.  I played on-and-off between different accounts for a few months after that, during which my main received a ban, and then I began to focus on Zantareous - eventually expanding to be a full-fledged skiller.  I was a highly-ranked F2P skiller until the latter half of 2010 when I retired from the F2P skilling scene.  The rest is history.

2010-2011

Zantareous retired from being an F2P skiller in late 2010 by using a two week membership trial that was being offered at the time.  Several of his F2P clanmates had decided to get P2P using the trial, and he saw it as a good opportunity to act on his desire to quit the game (his hope being that by stripping himself of his rank that he wouldn't feel the need to work towards anything else).  His plan didn't completely work as planned and he continued to play during the trial, now as a P2P skiller, but after the trial expired he lowered his playtime.

2011-2012

Zantareous came back and played for a couple months in the summer of 2011 with the goal to finish up some of his 99s.  After his membership expired, he decided to gain combat levels in F2P - another attempt at "ruining" his account to try forcing himself to quit.  This was more successful, and the player went on hiatus from RuneScape for the remainder of 2011 through 2012 as an attempt to focus on his first year of college (however, he did occasionally high alch on I Tad I while doing homework because it required little focus - eventually getting 99 Magic in the process).

2012-2013

During this period he rarely logged on unless he was merchanting.

2013-2014

For much of 2013 he logged on very sporadically - specifically only on I Tad I, and only for world events and some holiday events. He tried sticking to his goal of quitting the game but found that he did much better in school when he played (due to so many years of incorporating the game into his daily schedule). From 2013 through 2014 he increased his playtime and played almost entirely on I Tad I, for a while considering the possiblity of trying to max the F2P account.

2014-2015

In preparation for Ironman mode that would be released in that month, and due to waning interest, he retired I Tad I in October of 2014 after achieving his revised goal of all F2P skills at level 70 or above.  He also retired his accounts Tad The Monk (a Prayer pure), Y E Wsername (a Defence/Woodcutting/Firemaking pure), and all other remaining accounts after finishing their small goals that month. With the release of Ironman mode in RuneScape, he created an account named Iron Zant (an F2P Hardcore Ironman skiller) and played solely on that account until January 2015.

2015-Present

From January 2015 to the present he has been playing on Zantareous again (in members), and plans to slowly work on maxing Iron Zant over the next few years. In the summer of 2015 he completed his RuneScape Classic goal of all skills above level 10 (along with some level 20s and level 40 Woodcutting), and in January 2016 completed his Old School RuneScape goal of all skills above level 40 (along with some level 60s). In 2016 he decided that he would begin working on maxing Zantareous as well.
